Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October 2016, and she was able to get recognition. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music online in the year 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet, including her self release single Bound. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, which came out on the 21st July. it out on 21st July. The following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna had been contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21, 2016, her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared in two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music video followed then followed by a short video in September. Then on the 9th of November she dropped two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two singles more were released by her on 11/13 with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. In February her music video to this song was released. The track has garnered more than 3 million YouTube views within a week. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
